Inner Critics, Heroes and Other Parts Group

An event every week that begins at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, repeating until August 4, 2020
Meeting Tuesdays 4:30pm-6pm for 8 weeks via Video Telehealth for the time being. (June 16, 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28, August 4)
(First two sessions group open to new folks, then closes at third session.)
Age range: 20’s/30’s/40’s
All identities welcome.
It seems each of us is just one person, but in reality we have a community of different parts within us. Do you ever feel conflicted or stuck, arguing with yourself over what to do? These are likely your parts in conversation!
We have destructive parts, childhood parts, professional parts, cultural parts and critical parts just to name a few. In this group, we will identify these parts and how they get in the way of accessing our true self. None of our parts are bad parts, but often take on roles to help us cope with life stressors.
This group would be a good fit if you identify with any of the following:
-You often feel you have low self esteem and are self-critical
-You feel your life is out of your control and feel stuck with how to move life forward
-You feel disconnected from your body and and suppress gut feelings
-You have experienced narcissistic abuse from family or partners
-You would benefit from a safe group of individuals with shared experiences to help explore your parts as well as help others figure out theirs
We will explore our parts through:
-Imagining, creating and drawing our parts as characters
-Interviewing our parts to understand them better
-Identifying what our parts differing needs and wants are
-Teasing out self voice vs. voices of our parts
-Identify what each part’s function is in your inner community
-Identifying people and experiences, when and where parts showed up in our lives to assist us in functioning to survive stress
-Empowering our self as our inner hero by getting in touch with our self’s inner voice and wisdom, which we all already have within us
The goal of this group is to increase sense of control over your life by increasing mindfulness of your parts. What parts of you are trying to take over your true self at any given time, creating distress? Identifying parts is fun! Bring your creativity, imagination and an open attitude.
