Inner Parts Self Empowerment Group

September 3, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Thursday, repeating until October 22, 2020

It seems each of us is just one person, but in reality we have a community of different parts within us. Do you ever feel conflicted or stuck, arguing with yourself over what to do? These are likely your parts in conversation!

We have critical parts, impulsive parts, vulnerable parts, and manager parts just to name a few. In this group, we will identify some of these parts and how they get in the way of accessing our true self. None of our parts are bad parts, but often take on roles to help us cope with life stressors.

This group would be a good fit if you identify with one or more of the following:
-You often feel you have low self-esteem and are self-critical
-You feel your life is out of your control and feel stuck with how to move forward
-You feel disconnected from your body and suppress gut feelings
-You have experienced narcissistic abuse from people in your life
-You feel you would benefit from a safe group of individuals with shared experiences to help explore your parts as well as help others understand and appreciate theirs
-You would like to have structured adjunct group therapy experience to supplement your individual therapy, as it is integral to be engaged in individual therapy to process what comes up in group for you personally.

This will not be a good fit if you:
-Are looking for coping skills. This is a process/reflections group, not a skills group.
-Are looking for external resources. This group is focused on general prompts for self and group reflection that anyone could benefit from if you are ready for reflection, and person-centered in what you take from discussions. Themes and archetypes across experiences are reflected regardless of differing group member backgrounds. You will decide how you would like to take and apply your experiences in group to your life.
-Are looking for a passive group to benefit you only. It is an active not passive group experience, and engagement and connection building with others in the group is important to the experience. You get out of it what you put into it.
-Aren’t able to sit at a computer for 90 minutes as it is 100% Telehealth. Staying present in the group, though it is online, is important to everyone’s comfort, engagement and benefit.
-Do not have a confidential space to protect all group members, as what is discussed in group stays in group. This is how we protect all group members to feel safe to be vulnerable to get the most out of the group.
-Are not ready to commit to showing up for group sessions. This is a closed group, meaning we create community through the members that commit initially. It’s not a drop in drop out type of group, and it is encouraged to be able to commit to at least 6/8 group sessions, though attending all 8 sessions is highly encouraged for maximum benefit of all members.

We will explore our parts through:
-Imagining, creating and drawing our parts as characters
-Interviewing our parts to understand them better
-Identifying what our parts differing needs and wants are
-Teasing out self voice vs. voices of our parts
-Identify what each part’s function is in your inner community
-Identifying people and experiences, when and where parts showed up in our lives to assist us in functioning to survive stress
-Empowering our self as our inner hero by getting in touch with our self’s inner voice and wisdom, which we all already have within us

The goal of this group is to increase self empowerment by increasing mindfulness of your parts. What parts of you are trying to take over your true self at any given time, creating distress? Identifying parts are fun! Bring your creativity, imagination and an open attitude.
