Mindful Self-Compassion (Telehealth)
February 9, 2021 @ 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm
An event every week that begins at 3:15 pm on Tuesday, repeating until April 6, 2021
Most of us find it instinctual to be compassionate towards our loved ones when they are struggling – why do many of us find it so difficult to be compassionate towards ourselves?
This is an 8-week adult (20+) mindful self-compassion (MSC) group that will focus on developing and refining skills in self-compassion through brief instruction, experiential exercises, and discussion topics. MSC is an empirically-supported approach that acknowledges years of research indicating individuals who are more self-compassionate experience greater overall psychological health. Meditation experience is not necessary to participate.
Some of the topics we may explore are:
-Capacity and skills for self-soothing and the role of mindfulness in self-compassion
-Observing and challenging the “inner-critic”
-Self-compassion as a tool for motivation and encouragement
-Processing one’s failure compassionately
-And more…
