Self-Exploration and Connection through Art Journaling
December 9 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until January 20, 2021
As we head into the darkest time of this dark year, many of us are craving ways to make peace with adversity, and kindle sparks of hope for light and growth. Art therapy combines the use of art materials with self-inquiry to access and express what words sometimes cannot.
Art journaling is a form of creative self-care that can anchor us at times when we feel untethered. Working creatively in a group environment can be a powerful way not only to look inward, but to connect with others. This group will help members explore their inner world through creative prompts and discussion. Themes will range from mindfulness and
self-care to strengths exploration and healing from the collective trauma of 2020.
This group is for adults over the age of 18 and is limited to 12 members. We will meet once a week for six weeks starting the second Wednesday week of December. Each group session of 1.5 hours will encourage group members to explore aspects of themselves by responding to prompts using simple art materials such as pencils, markers, watercolors, and collage. Group
members will then be given the option to share their artmaking and perceptions with the group. This process of sharing what we create can foster personal validation, connection, and community.
Materials provided for those that need them. Please coordinate with Laura.
